Masters in Architecture Education

Masters in Architecture Education

Overview and Rationale

The department was established in 2007 and offers a unique flagship program on Architecture Pedagogy leading to an M. Arch degree.

At the time of conceptualizing and starting the program, it was the only one of its kind in India, an exclusive course in Architecture Pedagogy crafted by a team of highly acclaimed academicians with the help of professionals from the field of education, psychology, and core architecture.

The two-year four-semester program has an intake of 20 students and is recognized by the Council of Architecture (COA), the Government of Maharashtra, and R.T.M. Nagpur University.

  • The objective of this programme is to offer a professional course to architects who wish to be associated with teaching.
  • This programme is also most sought after by architects who want to enhance into a finer approach to professional practice.

Genesis of Program

  • Today all schools of architecture require highly skilled professionals who can delve deeply into the design philosophy of the school and translate it into fine design solutions. This is possible only if the teacher has an in-depth knowledge of the pedagogical processes and also of teaching techniques.
  • The path-breaking experiments in teaching methods adopted have resulted in the department acquiring FOUR Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

The concerns of education in architecture led to a group of teachers and educationists work on formulating a course where the architecture inputs could be integrated with inputs from the field of education.
