Agenda

  • To consider and discuss on the three proposals submitted by the M.Arch department ( architecture education ) for filing of IPR/copyright

The three proposals submitted by the M.Arch department were:

  1. Taxonomy of architectural design: Drawing parallels from Bloom’s Taxonomy, Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo and Dr.Lakshmi Rao developed taxonomy of cognitive objectives in the design studio. It focused on how students thought through the evolution of the design process, their feelings and emotions, and their motor skills. They developed a hierarchy of the thought process adopted by the students while working on their design.
  2. Design Process of SMMCA: It was felt that the entire design process developed at the undergraduate level from students from their first year till the end of their design studies was well structured, innovative and unique to the college. The programs were developed in a way so as to take into consideration the cognitive level of the students. The innovative ideas incorporated in the process were considered as a case for intellectual property.
  3. Framework of training program for teachers: Since 2010, SMMCA was organizing faculty development programs for the training center of Council of Architecture. The entire program of ten days/five days was conceptualized and developed by the faculty members of SMMCA. The format of the program was taken over by the training center and adopted for training programs all over India.  The uniqueness of the training program was that it included four aspects viz. education, psychology, creativity and design as part of its contents. Since the format of the program was universally being used, it was felt that the framework of the program be copyrighted so that the intellectual property rested with SMMCA.

The members deliberated upon the proposals and after detailed discussion, it was decided to apply for IPR for the above three proposals.  Dr. Guha in her capacity as patent attorney explained the procedure for filing the IPRs.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the chair.

The IPR cell of SMMCA was constituted on 9th September 2014.  The following members were appointed as its members –
