Internal Quality Assurance Cell

National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body established under UGC Act in September 1994. NAAC was entrusted with the responsibility of evaluating performances, assessing and accreditation universities, autonomous and affiliated colleges in the country. NAAC is paving the road for the establishment of “Quality Culture” in the universities and colleges along with enhancing awareness among all stakeholders for the need of Institutional Quality Assurance.

SMMCA proposed to establish IQAC as a measure for its quality enrichment. IQAC has worked to facilitate quality culture of college. It has worked for widening college vision.

IQAC also ensures the enforcement of the college vision with various activities. Members of the IQAC have always tried to maintain the quality in every venture of the college.

  1. To enhance the existing strategies & processes of SMMCA for academic and administrative quality enhancement.
  2. To work in harmony with SMMCA internal Cells / Committees for developing the systems.
  3. To work in synchronisation with the external agencies for collaborative architectural teaching – learning process to be uplifted.

It was decided that

  1. Every member of the committee is appointed for a period of 2 years.
  2. IQAC meeting will be held every quarter of an academic year to achieve and monitor the progress towards its goal.
  3. The quorum for meeting shall be two third of the total number of members.
  4. The agenda, minutes and action taken reports are to be documented with signatures and maintained digitally.
  5. IQAC has decided to have a separate section that will be working on college website for IQAC, where the strategies, functions, members and contact details will be uploaded in addition to this, documents related to NAAC, SSR and AQAR reports will be uploaded by this team.
  6. IQAC will act as a catalyst for NAAC peer team and college committees.

  1. Focus on developing student’s skills and competencies by imparting creativity, innovations and attitude to be sensitive towards national, social and environmental issues.

  3. To stimulate interaction with professionals from various fields.
  4. Encouraging students and faculties to participate in various Architectural competitions.
  5. To increase interaction between professional bodies.
  6. To have academic audit.
  7. To streamline submission system.
  8. To enforce academic calendar.

  2. To develop rich knowledge resources by library, material museum, environmental lab and other labs.

  3. Encouraging faculties to publish their research/review paper in reputed journals, conferences etc.
  4. Embedding research-oriented courses in the curriculum.
  5. Motivating students to attend conferences, workshops, undertake projects based on research.
  • To enhance academia industry/organizations interface.
  1. Organize various activities for extending relations with industries.
  2. Signing MOU with organizations/corporate/industry to exchange the knowledge and expertise in relation to Architecture.
